Matchking were retained to recruit for two Marketing Executives contract positions; one of which would be a temp to perm position.
IMMEDIATE START: One of the positions required a candidate to be able to start immediately without compromising on the fit to the brief.
MULTIPLE STAKEHOLDERS & GEOGRAPHIES: Managing the alignment of timelines, decision making and interviews across the UK and US.

Matchking used a mix of candidates’ searches, leveraging both databases and social networking bolstered by targeted search within our Powering H2H marketing network. Matchking also provided support in salary adjustment as the roles evolved.
Approach & Outcome
Selection was done over a two-stage process. A first physical interview with the line manager and a second interview with the Sales Director. At all stages, the candidates were managed and feedback appropriately is given, the client was kept in the loop at all times. Selection Interviews were as usual carried out face to face in person or via Skype.

I have worked with Matchking for many years, both as a candidate and a hiring manager with exceptional results. Unlike other agencies, Matchking focuses on the ongoing relationship with the candidates and stand head and shoulders above the rest in that regard. Their team take the time to really dig deep on the particular elements candidates need to have to fit into a culture, as well as the specific requirements of the role.
What would you say is the main benefit in using a specialist marketing recruiter?
Without doubt, it is that they have depth and breadth of knowledge of my industry which means they can find the right calibre for any level of seniority in marketing. For me, this means their understanding of the roles and how they fit into my organisation is always spot on.
Were there any elements of the service or the process that stood out as particularly helpful?
Firstly, their flexibility. The way they invoice and deal with contracts which is not that easy in a large corporation but Matchking have a way of working through any issues and keeping candidates happy through constant communication.
Secondly, Matchking is very effective. When I needed two contract marketing programs managers urgently, Matchking sourced good candidates quickly and I hired both of them immediately – one of whom has now become a permanent member of the team.
Anything else noteworthy?
Although we have an internal Talent Acquisition Team, specialist marketing roles are not easy to fill by simply looking online. In contrast, Matchking’s extensive network of candidates, and the relationships they have built with them over the years, means they know and can recommend the right people. Tim and the team at Matchking are my first point of call when I need to hire marketers!
